That moment when you realize you left your blog alone for 11 years!!!!

Since that time I have quit the librarian job to raise my youngest child.

Things have changed so much !

❤ I had a baby and quit my job to stay home with her

❤My oldest is starting her senior year of college

❤We homeschool and I have a group of amazing parents around me to guide me through it all

❤ I have given up most of the scrapbooking things

❤ I teach crochet classes for free at local libraries

❤I mostly knit now and have learned to make socks

❤We have two rescue dogs, two rescue cats and now a rescue opossum

❤We were able to visit Walt Disney World again

❤Attended my first fiber fest

I seem to be the repository for people getting rid of their grandmother's, mother's or auntie's needle work supplies now.  It doesn't bother me because I use these things to teach and make items for charity.

Not sure what else to say so I will end it there.  Maybe I will remember it exists! 😂

Well, talk about a switch up.  I was asked over the summer to take a position as a libarian's assistant.

I had been teaching computer for three years and LOVED it (even though it is turning my hair grey).
My husband was stressing about her being alone and not knowing any of the adults at the campus plus she has near severe to severe migraines.  He was worried there would be no one there to help her take care of herself.  Furthermore, how were we going to get here there when I have to be at work at the same time we can start dropping off at her new campus?

I received a text in June asking if I would be willing to come to the intermediate campus and work in the library.  The librarian oversees three schools in the district and she wanted to make sure she had someone at each campus who could take care of things while she was gone.

After three days of crying and blubbering I decided to take it.  I knew as soon as I got the text I was going to take it but...I did not want to leave my current job.  It took that long to make my heart understand that this is what our family needed.  I have a very low stress job and I get to see my daughter throughout the day.  I also get to read ! When there are no children and all of the shelves are neat, the turned in books reshelved...I read.  So far I have finished The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mockingjay, Mary Poppins, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, HP and the Chamber of Secrets, HP and the Goblet of Fire, HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban, HP and the Order of the Phoenix, and HP and the Half-Blood Prince.  I am on chapter five of HP and the Deathly Hallows.  I have not read all of these at work, I have a LOT of free time at home to craft and read.

All in all...Hated the Hunger Games because of how it made me feel.  Catching Fire was not such a tough read but I still didn't like it.  Mockingjay made me feel like all the happiness that I have ever known had been sucked out of me.  No hope.   Cheery review isn't it? ;)

Mary Poppins was not what I expected.  I have to read the other two Mary Poppins Comes Back and Mary Poppins Opens the Door.  Maybe it will help me make sense of the first one.

Now for Harry Potter.  I came to these books with the attitude of someone reading these books for information, not for enjoyment.  there has been a certain amount of enjoyment but about the middle of Goblet of fire I decided I would probably not read these books again.  I just was not enthralled with them.  Maybe I am too old (I am 36) and my sense of adventure is limited now.  Either way, I am glad I read them (I understand the Harry Potter jokes now) and I can let the kids know what I think of them.

I plan on going back and reading the old "classics" we read in school like Oliver Twist, The Hound of the Baskervilles, Wuthering Heights, Shakespeare (love Twelfth Night), Old Yeller, Where the Red Fern Grows (I hate that movie, too many feels).  Wish me luck!  What have you read lately?  Love it? Hated it?

I scrapped Capt. Jack using a kit I have had for years.  It's from Jamie Dell Scraps and you can find the free kit here.  I have used this kit for a project pertaining to a Make A Wish Foundation recipient.  It was perfect for the purpose and I wish I could share it with you here.

Getting Scrappy again

I have not scrapped for a while and that is mainly because I did not have a computer for quite a while! I have been doing some creative team work for Colie's Corner and loving it!  I love her style and colors.  Here are a few things I have come up with since being back in the digi world.

I took my daughter to Disney World for her 10th birthday (Daddy didn't come with us).  Here are a couple of layouts from that trip.
This layout was made using Love This Life by Colie's Corner.
You can find it HERE.  As of 3-22-14 this kit is showing 30% off.

Meeting Merida for the very first time.  Made this using Family Affair by Colie's Corner.
Find it HERE

Hopefully there will be more to come very soon.  I am going to go back and post older layouts with links to kits.  Hope you like them!

Another month

Another month, still no computer.  How in the world and I supposed to scrapbook and digitally design without a computer?!?!?!?!  On the bright side, airfare is too expensive to go see the family around Christmas so I might just get that money and get a computer.  Sigh...I would really like to see them though.

Keeping it organized

As I mentioned in my last post we have two different rotations.  Some grades have six teachers and some have five.  I make this binder to help keep myself organized and hopefully will help when I need a sub.

I used a bright colored cardstock to make the dividers (mainly because I hate the dividers from the store).  The divders are 9.5 inches by 11 inches.  I did not laminate them because our machine was down (eek). There are 11 sections.  The first part of the binder goes from Monday to Friday.  I have a class roster, printed seating chart, the roster from the first part of the year and the penciled in seating chart I made.  I also keep some notebook paper after the printed seating chart so that I can record what we did that day.  My memory is bad and some classes are on a different week's lesson.

The six day rotation comes after that and it is set up the exact same way.  The dividers have a printed label with a mustache sticker.  It is heavy and can be cumbersome but it is a tremendous help.

On the other side of the table of contents (which is now in a page protector) I have the the main schedule.

I cannot lie, it took me two weeks to get this to rights because of one holiday and the six day rotation.  I am so glad I didn't give up (I like small projects).

A few more things...

Here are a few more things I made for my computer lab this year.

Our theme this year is "Teach Like A Champion" so I decided to incorporate that with my theme. The mustache was almost too large for the laminating machine.  Ooops

We have two grades on five day rotation and three on six day rotations.  It gets very confusing so I put this outside my door to help a bit.  Love the chevron!

I also love the whole "Keep Calm" movement.  Of course I had to put a keyboard on it!
